Interesting - I've been having corollary thoughts about my iPod. While I love the idea of having my whole music collection available to me, I don't like that the iPod (and all other PMPs as well) is a isolating device. PMPs remove intimacy, and foster separation. I still don't get what the Zune people were thinking about the wifi sharing feature - why would people want to do that? The whole point is they're personal devices, not social ones! PMPs are -literally- anti-social devices.

The idea of the mobile phone as a wholistic communication device is gradually building steam with people in general, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much more connected it will make people. Huzzah for Web 2.0 (and onwards)!

Personally, now that I've got my N75, a decent phone for mobile internet, photo sharing & email, I'm eager to get rid of my iPod, and force myself to change my interactions (ie - having less music, movies, etc means I'll have to talk with my cow-orkers more : P ). To some extent it will be weird, I suppose, but it's better than making a habit out of isolation
